Medical Students

Medical StudentsWelcome to the Philadelphia Catholic Medical Student Association (CMSA).  Students from all of the area's medical, dental and podiatric schools are welcome to join us.  The Philadelphia Catholic Medical Student Association exists to provide medical professionals-in-training in the Philadelphia area with opportunities to:

  • Nurture our Catholic faith and spirituality through prayer, participation in the sacraments and discussion of issues relevant to our lives and those of our patients and families
  • Network with Catholic medical/dental/podiatric students from other professional schools in order to share and support one another in our faith and professional development
  • Learn more about our vocations as medical professionals through physician mentors, discussions of medical and ethical issues from a Catholic perspective
  • Lead the Christian community and the community at large through prayer, witness and service.

Check out the menu at the top for more information about the CMSA and its activities.

St. John Neumann Guild of Philadelphia offers Catholic medical students in the Philadelphia area many opportunities to mature as student-physicians from a uniquely Catholic perspective in the art of medicine. The Guilds' mentor program allows students to become well acquainted with a physician in their area of interest. Joint meetings also enable practicing Catholic physicians and medical students an opportunity to interact and discuss morally relevant issues.

On the national level, the Catholic Medical Students Association supports medical students through a variety of resources and publications, including a newsletter to instruct medical students and residents in the area of Catholic Medical Ethics.
